Campus-Wide Emergency Notification
The University has contracted with Blackboard Connect to use their Connect-ED emergency mass notification system. The Connect-ED product improves the University’s ability to effectively communicate with the campus using land-line phones, cellular phones, voicemail, email, and text messaging. The Connect-ED system can push out thousands of messages within minutes to help ensure the safety of everyone at Notre Dame during an emergency. An emergency is a situation which poses an immediate risk to the health and safety of the campus community or significantly disrupt its programs and activities.
At the beginning of each semester, students are asked to respond to ND Roll Call to update contact information during enrollment. In addition, throughout the semester they may contact the Registrar’s Office to provide updates.
Notre Dame Police Department
The University of Notre Dame Police Department, located in Hammes Mowbray Hall just east of the Power Plant, is fully authorized as a police agency by the State of Indiana. The department employs both sworn police officers and non-sworn security officers who patrol campus and respond to emergencies.

As a full-service-life-safety agency, NDFD is a vital component of the University’s mission to provide a safe environment for our faculty, staff, students and visitors.
