Bienvenue, mes amis! As Charles the Great, emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, said, “To have another language is to possess a second soul.” Neurologists, language instructors, and bilinguists all agree that the best method in facilitating fluency in any tongue is through constant practice. So then, why not practice your French-speaking abilities with friends and classmates over some pains au chocolat?
Open to all, the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures hosts Le Café Français, which offers students many great opportunities. Not only do you get free French cuisine, but also chances to speak directly with French instructors to enhance and deepen your francophone experience. Conversations with enthusiastic classmates and staff are always a given, and you get to participate in games and competitions. If you like practicing your French, playing board games, or eating delicious pastries, then this is the perfect opportunity for you!
Café Français events are the first Mondays of every month from 4:30-5:30pm in either Decio Commons or the Jordan Hall of Science Reading Room. For more information, email your French instructor or check romancelanguages.nd.edu/events/calendar/. Venez et apporter nombreux!
