Rising to the challenge of college-level writing can be a difficult transition to make in the first year of college. Fortunately, the University Writing Center is housed on the second floor of the Coleman-Morse Center along with the First Year of Studies.
Writing Center tutors work with writers during all stages of the writing process — from understanding an assignment, to developing a thesis, to organizing the paper, to revising the first draft, and to editing the final product. Upperclassmen will meet with you one-on-one by appointment to help you with any issues that you may have and to take your writing to the next level.
The Writing Center also provides workshops and other events to help you hone particular skills and tackle special problems like:
- How to write intros and conclusions for a paper
- Performing well on an in-class essay exam
- Writing a medical school personal statement
- How to manage sources
