Physicians Who Write

September 29 7:30 - 9:00PM
EVENT TYPE: Find Your Way, Get a Little Help, Get Cultured LOCATION: 217 Coleman-Morse Center

Faculty Host:

Physicians Who Write is a new reading group designed for first-year students considering a career in the health professions.

Through reading and discussion of books written by practitioners in science and medicine, First Year advisor Fr. LaSalle hopes to support your reflection on and planning for your future career path. Participation in this group will give you a taste of the day-to-day experience of being a doctor, with its difficulties and rewards.

This group is perfect for students who believe there should be no great divide between a love of science and medicine and a love of literature!

Some sessions will include discussions with area physicians.

Schedule of readings for the fall:

September 29:

Selections from Oliver Sacks’ The Man who Mistook his Wife for a Hat

October 27:

Victoria Sweet, God’s Hotel: A Doctor, a Hospital, and a Pilgrimage to the Heart of Medicine, Part I

November 17: God’s Hotel, Part II

You can participate in all three if you like, but you are welcome to attend only some of them as well.

If you are interested in participating, please sign up in advance using our online form.

Books will be provided for you.

Questions should be directed to Fr. LaSalle at or (574) 631-7421,
