STEM Ambassador Program Deadline
Faculty Host: STEM Ambassadors Program
Attention all Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) majors!
The STEM Ambassador Program is looking to hire approachable, passionate individuals to serve as STEM Ambassadors for the 2016-2017 academic year. The Ambassador Program is part of an effort set forth by a National Science Foundation grant to provide resources to students with the goal of increasing retention rates in STEM majors. To achieve this goal, one to three Ambassadors are hired in each dorm to provide students with an accessible source of mentorship and academic support.
The duties of a STEM Ambassador include:
- Serving as a mentor to underclassmen within the dorm
- Holding office hours in the dorm for 4-6 hours a week, during which residents can come in seeking tutoring or advice relating to the STEM fields
- Collaborating with Ambassadors in nearby dorms to plan both social and academic events that facilitate the formation of relationships among STEM majors
- Working to build a strong sense of community between STEM majors that will assist students in both academic and social growth throughout their time at Notre Dame
Ambassadors must be planning to live on campus for the entirety of the 2016-2017 school year.
