The minimum GPA required for academic good standing for the first year student is 1.700 for the first semester and 1.850 for the second semester. If you earn less than a 1.700 GPA for the first semester you will be on academic probation after that semester.
You will be removed from academic probation after the second semester if your GPA for the second semester is at least 1.850. If, on the other hand, you do not earn a minimum GPA of 1.850 for the second semester, you will be subject to dismissal from the University. Further, any student whose semester GPA is less than 1.000 in either of the two semesters will be subject to dismissal from the University.
These two policies regarding dismissal are standard throughout the University. However, after your first year, the requirement for academic good standing is a semester GPA of 2.000.
If you have concerns or questions about your academic standing, contact your First Year advisor. For more information on satisfactory academic progress and how it affects financial aid, please review this page.
