Literature University Seminar

This semester we will read some of the greatest bestsellers ever written. Composed over a period that spans from the eight to the fourth century BC, the Homeric epic poems, Sappho’s lyric poems, tragedies by Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides, Thucydides' history of the Peloponnesian war, and Plato’s dialogues have been recited, read, memorized, analyzed, and performed by people for over 2,000 years. These foundational works have spoken in different ways to people in different times and places.
