FTT 13182-1: History of Chicago Theatre

Instructor: Marcus Stephens

In this class, we will look at the history of Chicago Theater, what goes into its creation, and who is involved. We will study the dramaturgical context for the creation of this American regional theater brand, and it’s critical/ popular reception. Students will research and write about instructor and self-selected topics related to these examinations. Ultimately, we will be creating a conversation about the American experience through the examination of one of its most famous theater towns.
