This course is not currently available. Please visit the Courses section for current offerings.

Instructor: Maria McKenna

In this interdisciplinary seminar we explore together the possibility of education as a means to peace. We will use the tools of social science, in particular qualitative research and narratives, to inform our understanding of how environmental justice, place based learning, and race intersect with education for peace. We will consider culturally sustaining pedagogies and philosophies to inform our vision of education in the service of a healthier, more inclusive, and more peaceful world. This course will require students to explore the South Bend community and high degree of self-reflection.
