AFST 13181-1: Education for Justice, Sustainability, and Peace

Instructor: Maria McKenna

Social Science University Seminar

In this interdisciplinary university seminar we will explore the possibility of education as a conduit to peace broadly construed. We will use the tools of social science, in particular qualitative research and narratives, to inform our understanding of how environmental justice, place based learning, sustainability efforts, and especially racial/ethnic identities intersect with education for peace. This course will require students to explore the South Bend community and high degree of self-reflection.
