Academic Journeys Week 2021
First Year is Only the Beginning. Explore Your Next Steps
Academic Journeys Week is the semester's premiere event in which first-year students engage with members of Notre Dame's scholarly community to learn more about majors, minors, and opportunities to expand learning beyond the classroom. Over the course of five nights, faculty, staff, and students from all corners of Notre Dame will (virtually) open their doors as you consider the next steps of your academic journey. Don't miss this opportunity to speak with expert faculty, compare possible majors and minors, create connections with centers and research teams, and win prizes!
How it Works
By clicking through the online slide deck (see below!), you will see information about participating groups, contact information, and individual Zoom links per group host. Just as if our entire academic community gathered in one large space, you have the opportunity to choose which groups you want to visit using individual Zoom meeting links during the group’s allotted date and time block! During the group’s Zoom meeting, you will have an opportunity to visit with faculty, staff, and upperclassmen, ask questions, and find out more information about possible academic paths. Each Zoom meeting will be different, so feel free to browse and connect with any group you want! The hosts for Academic Journeys Week are below.
First Year Advising and Prizes!
Join the "First Year Advising" Zoom Link, available each night of Academic Journeys Week, to talk to First Year Advisors. Located on Slide 2, we're your virtual "welcome table" and happy to be your first stop for the evening. Advisors can answer questions, make recommendations, and help you win some prizes! First-year students who drop by the First Year Advising slide will be able to complete a 1-minute Academic Journeys Survey and enter a random drawing to win a $100 gift card to a campus spot of their choosing! Multiple students will win each night!
A Word of Advice: Explore
Your academic journey will be enriched by exploration. So EXPLORE! Permit yourself to drop by any and all groups that spark your curiosity - even those with whom you aren't familiar. Hosts are eager to meet you, answer even the most basic of questions, and help you find a journey that best suits you.
