Good Stuff to Do: Zaland

It’s late. You’re hungry. LaFortune seems far, and Duncan is light-years away. The hunger pangs distract you from your studies. In time, your vision is blurred, and your hands are shaking. You can’t feel your left arm. You need food fast. Luckily for you, conveniently located on North Quad in the basement of Keenan Hall is the gastronomical Mecca for all famished, nocturnal scholars: Zaland.

Operating seven nights a week, the pizzeria swings its parlor doors open for all weary travelers. Open from 9:30-12:30 on weeknights and 11:30-2:30 on weekends, Keenan Hall boasts the finest product in Za-land. Gentlemanly Keenan Knights hand-craft the pizza themselves, layering the toppings, drizzling the sauce, and sprinkling the cheese with care. For the economical rate of a dollar per slice, a better value cannot be found on campus.

Whether I decide to grab a slice mid-study session or after attending hall mass, Keenan Hall’s pizzeria has had a tremendous beneficial impact on my quality of student life. I live every day with the comfort of knowing that even at the darkest hours of night, Zaland is there to nurture and care for me. Some say that it is Rocco’s. Other argue Barnaby’s or Bruno’s. For me, the choice is clear. Zaland is the premier pizza option in all of the Great South Bend area. Together, we have formed a bond that no other Northern Indiana college pizza joint and I could ever rival.
