PHYS 10411 and PHYS 10424: General Physics
Corequisite: MATH 10550 or equivalent.
Designed for students intending to enter the Department of Physics.
Physics 10411 is the first semester of a three-semester sequence in general physics. Topics include the kinematics and mechanics of a particle; work, energy and momentum, and associated conservation laws; rotation, torque, and angular momentum; and oscillations and wave motion. Science college and preprofessional students who do not intend to complete this three-semester physics course sequence for physics majors may fulfill the requirement by taking PHYS 10320 second semester. They may not fulfill the physics requirement by taking PHYS 10411 and 10424.
